Hemi Tick
Sometimes I hear it, very faint and I have to be in the garage or next to a wall where the sounds will echo.
I put 5W-20 M1 in mine, which is what the manual says to use, well the weight part anyhow. I think the 5W-20 weight recommendation started with the 05s.

if it ticks you off that much rebuild the motor and bore+stroke big and build the hell out of it and supercharge it and make it put out 800+ to the rear wheels, or just get over it until dcx finds out what it really is and tells us otherwise he have to live with it for now.. btw i belive our 03' does it as well 61k miles on it always done it since i can remember
yah mine ticks also and it has gotten much more noticible and louder since i installed my CAI and it's got about 42K on it...been using M1 5W-30 since it was new and it's always ticked...i just deal with it
Dodge does have revised exhaust valves to correct this concern. The stem diameter is slightly bigger. I work at a dealership and we have done this "fix" on several trucks. Itquites the tick down some if it is real bad - does not fix it. I put the revised exhaust valves, 6.1 cam and valve springs in my personal truck all at the same time. The tick noise is almost gone. I believe that the tick noise is in the valve train.I do not think there is any way to totally get rid of the noise.
Sounds like this hemi tick has been around for a long time and these engines keep running with no damage. I would write it off as being a hemi sound and not worry about it. If these hemi engines from ’03 and ’04 where blowing engines or valves then something is wrong but you don’t here about that. I would not be concerned. Red
OK, GET THIS.I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE DEALER TODAY, THEY WANTED ME TO COME IN FOR MY FIRST OIL CHANGE.
THEY TOLD ME NOT TO USE AN AFTERMARKET FILTER BECAUSE THE ENGINE WILL START TO TICK. HE SAID THE MOPAR FILTER HAS SOME KINDA VALVE IN IT THAT WILL KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING.
HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS??
I HAVE TO GO SEE THIS FOR MYSELF
