A buddy of mine said to put a bottle of "Lucas" or some oil additive. I bought "STP" oil additive today and getting an oil change on saturday. Not sure if it will work but we will find out. This is on a 4.7L. If it makes a difference.

Get that tick out with a match! lol jk! I was worried when mine did'nt tick! It's def. not the oil filters. I bought a case of MOPAR filters from the stealer on my 1st oil change & I got the tick early on (if not from beginning) They are FOS

Check all of your exhaust manifold bolts to loose ones or broken ones. Many guys have had ticking due to this issue

I also hear it's the EGR valve? Just curious if anyone had any input here.

I'm takeing it to a different dealer and see what they have to say. If I can't get it resolved, I may trade it in. I like the truck but the ticking has got ot go. Thanks.

I drive a 08 PW with the Hemi tick. I started dumping a can of Sea Foam in the tank every 3 months for about a year and a half now. Slight tick on first start up then goes away. Had the truck 5 yrs now 130000 km and runs like a dream.

Our '05 Hemi @ 84,000 miles... has ticked since I bought it at around 20,000. Some days it's loud... some days you can't hear it unless the hood is up. Always been told it's normal.

Our '06 Hemi @ 96,000 miles... has a less noticeable tick, but it's there... again... depends on the day.

that's what I can add to this.

Just changed my oil the first time. 5w30 synthetic. Whatever the noise is, it got worse. Don't know what the previous owner used in it. But I am absolutely not changing to a 5w20 for an 03.
That being said, what is the HEMI tick supposed to sound like? And how can one tell if the valve springs are broken?
I want to make sure everything checks out before my power train warranty runs out

I would stick with 5w20.

The tick is from the gasoline.

I have 7 2012 rams sitting right now from 3k miles to 25k miles on them. Medium to premium grade makes the tick go away. Low grade fuel and its there.
