Titan / Ram 1500 Towing ... huh ????????
#21
It has to do with braking ability, drivetrain strength and frame capability.
9100lbs is the max available for a Ram
The underpowered F150 can tow up to 11,000 lbs.
I'm sure that the weak *** 545RE transmission is the main reason for the lower rating.
Personally, anything over about 8K should be a 3/4 ton or larger.
I'm not towing 11K with a 1/2 ton truck. If they up the ratings on the F150 any more, you will have to have a CDL to drive one

I'm pretty sure the 545RE trans in the Rams is the same one in my wife's grand cherokee. I towed about 5500 with it once, it did ok, but then we had to put 1300 dollars into the trans to fix it.
If this happens on my truck, it'll be under warranty but I may get it built up stronger on my dime. Can anything be done to these trannies to make them stronger?
