It's because the payload and towing capacities dropped from the revised rear suspension so grocery getters can have their *** in a smooth ride. Ya know, for those people who don't need a truck but buy one anyways!

Those specs are for the '09's. The 08 and prior have greater towing capacity. i thought it was like 9200#'s?????

1500's are for lightweight towing and hauling. if you have any descent size camper, then you should own a 2500.

Here are the Mega Cab specs I found:
Max. Payload: 2,970 pounds
Max. Towing Capacity: 15,900 pounds

Off topic but what is a Hayden 24000lb secondary Transmission Cooler used for, is it expensive, easy to add and is it a worthwhile addition for pullung a 6800 lbs travel trailer in the summer months ?

Dirty ... the 1500 Mega Cab 4x4 is very capable of pulling my 5 / 6k camper .... depends what I load ...
point is ... how the heck can a little peanut like the Nissan do more then the Ram ....

Yeah I think the values you quote are for the 2500 Mega cab .. and with a diesel if Im not mistaken.

Mike101 ... ooooo 6800 lbs ..is that the dry curb weight of the camper ? That would be a stretch for my truck once you figure in all the other weights ..

I added a secondary cooler (I know there is a stock secondary .. but its a piece of crap compared to the Hayden) to keep the tranny temp down. I think it cost me $80 bucks and about that much to have it installed. I prolly could have installed it myself if I werent so dang lazy ... but Id rather be riding my motorcycle ...

Also, if you like, I have a towing demonstrator that will help you determine if your at or over your trucks capability based on the documented specs.

Heres the specs on camper ..

Shipping Weight 4752
Carrying Capacity 1293
Hitch 445

These are the documented weights but again .. stuff always comes in heavier. I just use the Cat scales at the truck stops to get actual weighs.

BUT ... the NISSAN shouldnt be able to out tow the Ram .. and that looks like whats going on ....

As much as I hate to say it, the Titan is a damn nice truck. A buddy of mine just bought one, and I gotta say it comes real close to making me jealous. On the other hand, it's no Ram =D

and the titan doesnt have the nice big american parts like we do....like daina 40s and 60s differentials and nice big tranys that will take whatever you through at them. the titan is an awesome truck but its like buying from Aldi not Kroger. same stuff but you dont feel like your getting the real ganuine thing.
