Default Few questions before I buy a Ram.

Hey, It's looking like I will be getting a 06-08 Ram 1500. My question to you guys is around how much am I looking to switch the rear suspension to a pretty good set of coil overs? I don't know a lot about this stuff at all so any info is appreciated. Also I'd want some better ones for the front plus a leveling kit.
Also what size/style tires do you think I could do without having to worry about any problems with them hitting anything? I will be using it for sand dunes, mud, desert, and tons of snow.

I say get a 4X4 and then go with performance suspension like this. A set up like this will go for around $3,500 plus install but it will be cheaper than converting your truck to a coilover swingarm rear suspension.

In my opinion if you are planning on offroading I would start with 2500 platform. No lockers for the front of 3rd gen 1500 and the solid front axle is a hell of allot stronger than the front of a 1500 and is more suited for larger tires. A 5 lugger platform is limited to tire size. Hell if you got the cash pick up a 2500 with a cummins. That is the best IMHO...

Such a broad term as "Offroading", almost everything that goes fast in the desert and dunes with 4 wheels has IFS. Alpheus does have a good point thought, you gotta decide what terrain you'll be on most and buy/build the truck to suite that. And for the record Al, if I could have gotten a solid front axle I would've have but they wanted another 6K.

You talking about removing the leaf springs and getting coil-over shock and drag links or just adding coil over shocks.

Just get an 09. It already has a 5 link coil suspension in the rear.
