Default HEMI Ram vs 4.8L Silverado

Hey guys. A friend I work with has a 2008 Reg Cab Short Bed Z71 Silverado with a 4.8L V8 and he's been bragging all day about how fast his truck is and how it would beat mine. What do you guys think?

2006 HEMI Ram 1500 QC SLT 2WD w/ Airaid CAI and Magnaflow 14" Exhaust vs his bone stock 2008 Silverado RCSB Z71 with a 4.8L.

Not even a fair race. Go find a 5.3 or 6.0 to pick on...it will be a better race.

I don't think you have much to be worried about either, but keep in mind that his truck weighs less then yours and has almost 300hp. Those 4.X engines aren't much of a match for a 5.7 unless it's modded out. Just realize, that this could turn into a Mod war between the both of you. An expensive one for him and a bit cheaper one for you.

On a side note, how do you like the 14" Magnaflow? Thiniking of getting the same size myself, is it 5x8?

He's got more than a good chance. My 4.7 RCSB will smoke an 08 and back hemi with a quad cab. granted I have a stick shift which doesn't suck as much power as the auto. I can kinda keep up with the new 09 hemi's but they win out in the long run. With him being a lot lighter and with 300 hp he aint too far behind the hemis 345. You probably would win out but he aint just gonna dissapear into the rearview.

I like the 14" Magnaflow. It's kinda quiet at idle if you leave the resonator on but if you take it off it will be louder of course. I don't regret it. Money well spent. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7951

As far as the Silverado being lighter.. That specific RCSB Silverado weighs 4500 pounds where as my QC HEMI Ram weighs 5000. I think I'll be ok.

I've heard of HEMI Rams with some mods beating a Silverado SS so I'm not too worried. I can't wait to shut him up.

You'll be fine. I have run a guy who has the 6.0 several times and have beat him every time.

you will beat a chevy 4.8L without a problem. Now if it was the 5.3L it will be very very close. both my buddies have those trucks and we had a "race day" to see who's was faster and the chevy(5.3L) won 3 out of 4 times, against the hemi. The chevy was a 2005 and the Hemi was a 2004. Also both truck were completely stock and the Hemi had 20" rims where the chevy had 17's.
