Default ? for DIY painters

How hard is it the color match the paint? I have seen some eyelids on ebay that come primed and I was wondering how hard it would be to match with my black paint.

it usually takes a good 3 yrs of sunbaking to get a noticable fade. that being said, just get a small spray can of the factory color (pretty sure its px9 for the black). I dont think you have to worry about color matching

Early model black is super easy to match. As you get newer (like your truck) they added something to the paint that makes it harder to match. Just buy yourself a can of color match to the factory color and test it on something before you start painting on your truck.

I think there was an episode of Trucks! a while back that featured this. However, that application was for much larger surface than a set of eyelids. It's worth a shot to look it up, it may be of help.

you can get the factory color spray cans from the dealer for about $13 each....i've paid less but last time i bought a couple cans it cost me 13 each....should only have to buy 1 can to do your eyelids tho plus a can of clear coat from an auto parts store
