Default 6.1 intake manifold on a 5.7

Has anyone put a 6.1L intake manifold onto a 5.7L?? Anyone know what kinda gains come from it, I saw that Inertia motor sports sells them to bolt onto a 5.7L.

The ports dont line up so you lose performance unless you swap out 6.1 heads also...

heh, a performance shop will sell you anything they can make money from. if it will "increase performance", they'll sell it to you. Why do you think they all sell throttle body spacers for example. its all about making money anyway they can for the most part (with a few very honest exceptions)

yeah as alpheus has said, you can do it but you'll lose performance....6.1 heads are needed to do this swap

You can machine the intake all you want it still will not line up with the 5.7 heads. The intake ports are bigger than the ports on the heads,so how does taking material off the intake by machine solve that problem? I don't care what any performance shop says,it wont add any performance gains. All you will gain is a different looking intake and that's it. If you believe that I will sell you a Powerwire that will add 50 HP and a tornado that will add 25 HP and a throttle body spacer That will add infinite amount of HP. Do a bit of research on the subject and don't believe everything you read on the internet. Hot Rod magazine did an article with different intakes on the 5.7 Hemi and the 6.1 intake made lower numbers. If the 6.1 liter was such a bad *** motor why didn't Dodge use it in any of the Rams???

This "kit" is for installing an entire 6.1L top end to your 5.7L, it is the timing cover and bracket extensions only, no intake is included.

6.1L Truck Manifold Upgrade

This kit allows you to add the aluminum 6.1L Intake Manifold to your 5.7L HEMI Truck. It includes a machined timing cover to accept the brackets and clear the intake, along with the brackets and hardware. The customer will need to install an electric fan, modify the wiring harness to go around the intake, make a cold air intake and supply the intake manifold assembly

There are kits made for the ford modular motors that will allow the use of a 4.6L intke to be bolted to a 5.4L block. Doesn;'t mean it will gain you HP. Maybe, but in a very limited area.
For Example. The Typhoon intake for the 4.6L's is meant to gain 23hp on the dyno. But what they don't tell you is that the gains are at 6400-7000rpms. What sense does that make if a stock motor churns only 6k redline. The stock cams aren't proportionate to the different intake design.
I think you'd be better off having a cam installed and forget everything else unless you can scrounge up extra change for a set of heads???? $2k+
