Hi,

I have a problem with my Ram 1500 2003 Hemi 5.7 magnum. When I drive it for short drive, less than 30 min, nothing happen, but when I get on the highway after about 60 to 70 km my Trans Temp light goes on. The coollant was a little bit lower, but I fill it up but the problem still there. And I also did a Transmission fluid flush last week.
I actually just but this truck, so dont know to much about the history of it, but not I don't know waht to do or what's the problem. Any idea waht could be the problem??

could very well be a faulty sensor, try replacing it and see what happens

 

problem exist before the tranny fluid flush?

 

How's the trans fluid level?

Did you use the right fluid? Slipping creates heat.

 

It was actually doing it before I did the fluid flush! to be honest a garage did it for me, I could check for wich kind they used!

Well it could be only the sensor, but when I check the oil and it was pretty warm, pull over for 15 min and after back to normal, no light on!

The trans fluid level look ok, it's a little bit higher then it should be, but not that much, is that ok you think?

 

Do these things have the cooler return filter? Clogged perhaps?

 

When the shop did the flush, did they drop the pan and change BOTH filters? If not you definitely need to do this. You can also get a hold of a scanner and take a test drive to make the light come on and see what the scanner says the temp is.

 

The shop should have never just did the flush and fill if they were told it was running hot! They should have known better. They should have dropped the pan and changed the filters. Most often, if a tranny overheats during normal use (non towing), it's because of a clogged filter. A problem in the transmission (or just about anywhere else) requires someone to get there eyes in there and see what's going on...

 

They did'nt remove the filters, ah that's sucks!
By the way another thing, the engine light is on and the error code is 700, but it dos'nt say much about the exact problem. I'll bring it to transmission national tomorrow and see what's wrong exactly.

 

I believe that the engine error code P700 is a generic code for a transmission fault.
