Doesn't mater how much air the 8's move. They just don't have the range of a 10 or a 12" sub. While 8's will be much tighter in the bass dept., they will lack the range of bass and won't hit the lows no where near the same. very low output on the lower bass notes that are in most kinds of music, not just rap crap. I have 10's because i don't need or want the over extended bass notes and because I want clarity.
Now if he chooses a JLw8, then that's another story, but there's not enough room for that sub which is 9" in depth.

CVR's are bottom barrel subs IMO. P3's are of better quality, but you need to remember one thing....Shallow mount subs are going to be hollower sounding than full depth subs. Bass won't be near as firm and loud, but should still be as tight. Output is about 1/2 a normal depth sub. 2-10's would be much louder than shallow 12's. here's an ebay auction where i referenced spe sheet http://cgi.ebay.com/ROCKFORD-FOSGATE...lenotsupported

I am going with a 4" seat lift to clear 2 12" infinity kappa's that will rock like no other with about 800 watts a piece
