and the moral to that story is........ NEVER TRUST THE GUY AT THE PARTS COUNTER!!!
I have the 50HD series, although I'm fixin' to replace it with a Cherry Bomb Extreme. I want a bit louder.
The 50HD is nice. Deep, throaty sound when you get on it, not loud at all on idle or when just cruising. Slight drone in the 1800-2200 rpm range, but not bad. Not the best flowing muffler in the world though. Although I gotta agree with the consensus on this one, the Magnaflow will give you the quieter sound you seek, should not drone in the cab, still have a nice rumble when you give it some gas, and best of all, flow better than anything Flowmaster offers...

On another note, I have my exhaust coming out in front of my rear tire, right under the back door, and I dont get a lick of drone from my coffin muffler.
I noticed that even on the freeway at 65-70 I dont get an overbearring drone. Theres a distant tone, until I open 'er up. Then its deafening...

I don't get it. I'm running a Flowmaster 50 that exit out the rear. If it does drone, it certainly isn't annoying. At WOT it sounds great with the K&N 77 roaring up front. It is exactly the way I want it. But of course if it wasn't I'd do what you guys are doing and whack on it until it was right. Also, we have to take into cosideration I'm a old guy and a little hard of hearing, so speak up.

ArkHemi,
Where did you get your Aero 3030XL? And did you do it yourself or have a local shop do it for you?
I've narrowed my choice down to the Aero or Magnaflow, but I've wanted to hear someone's set-up if possible before I pull the trigger.
I installed Flows on my old '87 Silverado way back and they were overbearing around 65 mph on the Hwy. I just lived with it and don't want to do the same thing on my Ram.

doneking, I bought the 3030XL from Moes Performance. It was actually shipped from Autotrucktoys.com (if I remember correctly). I took my truck to a brake shop in Bryant and had them just cut the oem muffler out and put the 3030 in it's place, leaving the stock resonater in place. They did it plus put a chrome tip on for $50.00 plus tax total. (parts and labor).
Here is a link to another thread that I started that has 3 vids where you can here the exhaust. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...-at3030xl.html
The name of the brake shop is Bryant Brake and Tire.

Im not a fan of flowmasters since they are not a straight through muffler. However I had listened to a flowmaster 70 series on a ram which I liked over the 40 and 50 series and that might be what you are interested in( not to loud, almost like a magnaflow sound) if you prefer a flowmaster brand over others.
