04 ram quad cab hemi 61000 miles, the other day i was doin the oil and i noticed the oil pan was wet with a bead of oil on the drain plug. So i changed the drain plug and wiped it clean, drove a few miles and it was wet again not coming from the plug it looked to be srayed on my under carrage. The drive shaft into the front diff also was wet but i changed the fluids in the front and rear almost 1500 miles ago and there not any lower, i dont get it. I checked the oil and it was lower... A little bit, i cannot figure out were it it coming from. Its not the filter and i checked the pan gasket and it diddnt look wet????? Please help........

 

might have blown your rear main seal.

 

I had a very small pin oil in the metal casing of my oil filter once. IDK how it got there but it was just enough to leak and the air to catch it and spread it all under the truck.

What you need to do is go get some engine cleaner or degreaser and spray everything down, wash it off and then check for leaks.

Are you sure it is engine oil? I have experienced two rack & pinions leaking from the rubber boot this spring. My 03 Ram (60K) and a friends 04 Ram (95K). Mine sat all winter and pretty much all the power steering fluid drained out. My friends started leaking after sitting for about two months. Is there something about sitting that causes leaks?

sounds like a seal IMO

 

i deff know its engine oil, ive checked all others even steering fluid and the engine oil is the only thing that ever seems to dissapear

 

Sounds like a rear seal. Should be covered under 7yr/70kmi right?

 

check the yoke seal on the front diff, if you have a 4wd--I've had mine replaced already once

 

My Gen II had an intermittent front seal leak. It mostly dripped on the ground, and was never serious enough to worry about. Small circle on the ground every now and then.

 

Doesnt matter what it is or where it is yet with assuming we know. The only way you are going to find it accurately is to degrease the bottom and get it clean and then see where it is coming from.
