Doing first oil change....questions...
The ziplock bag is a good tip, do not use fram oil filters they are junk. If you don't want to spring the high dollars for K&N or Amsoil filters Wixx or Purolator are pretty good. I use Wixx since Amsoil also sells themand I think that is who makes theirs.
Also be sure and check the old filter to make sure the rubber gasket came off of the engine and is on the filter or in the oil pan. I had one stick on the engine once and I screwed the new filter right on top of it. Well I made it about 2 miles before it blew out and oil went every where. Good thing I was pulling into the parking lot of Pep Boys. They were closed and the manager was walking out to his car when it happened. He was nice enough to borrow me a filter wrench and sell me 5 quarts of oil to get it going again. What a mess that made.

well im not sure if you guys are aware of the 07 4.7L flex motors...
But i own a 2007 Dodge Ram with the 4.7L flex fuel motor, and it takes 6 quarts of 5w20. i use mobil 1 oil along with a mobil 1 filter
FYI: Autozone is havine a sale on mobil oil with a free mobil 1 filter
and i use Lucas fuel injector cleaner about evry month... (I was told from a lucas rep. that you are not supposed to use it in E85 fuel)
Good Luck (saves you money)

Yep I have the 2008 4.7 Flex - when all else fails, read the manual. It tells you how much oil with and without a filter change. Of course, you should change the filter every time in my opinion. In the manual, look in the specifications section for all of your capacities.
what i found from amsoil application guide the flexfuel uses 5.9 quarts of 0-20 or 5-20. I would just go with amsoil w/ their filter and take advantage of the extended drain interval, but thats just me and now i put amsoil in everything.
Is the oil type like 5w-40 really the best one to use in the 2007 5.7 hemi? Im a noob at oil I can change it just dont no much from there. All the oil bottles i find for it say for HIGH MILLAGE Im not at high millage at only 35,000?
NOOOOOOO. 5w-20 for 5.7L hemi engines. Don't get the High mileage stuff, just normal stuff. You may get away with using 5w-30? MDS may be effected???? Doubtful, but can happen.
LUCAS Fuel Injector Cleaner is the best stuff I have found. i pour in a bottle every oil change for my cars.
Advance Auto has a sale going on right now with 5 quarts Valvoline SynPower and a K&N filter for $24.99. I'll have to buy another quart because my 4.7 like most, takes 6 quarts total. I usually go with Mobil One, but I’ve heard good things about Valvoline and the sale with a K&N filter is a good deal.
My manual and the oil fill cap says 5W-30 with 10W-30 as an alternative, does anyone know why I’m only suppose to use a 5W-30 weight oil only?

well there are technical reasons but the first thing that comes to mind is...because the guys that built the engine say so???Good enough reason for me! Thats just like the recommendation for 89 octane gas, run 87 if you want, and you may do it forever with no problem but I run no less than 89 octane fuel and 5w-20 oil in my 5.7 because the people that built it recommend that and thats good enough for me.
