Nice article about EPA and MPG's.
http://trucks.about.com/od/fuelecono...el_economy.htm
Here's the '08 economy fuel ratings as rated by the useless EPA http://trucks.about.com/od/2008dodge...ueleconomy.htm
I brought this up to show everyone how things are calculated and to eliminate all the guys that think they are getting 22+mpgs in their 4wd. Not counting going downhill.lol Although they don't post up the 4wd 5.7 #'s???
basically, what the sticker says for MPG's is an absolute BEST circumstance scenario. That means you will pretty much Never get more than what's advertised, unless you turn your truck off at the top of a big hill......lmao
13city/15 highway is what I'm getting 11mpg when towing regardless of highway or city

I really don't see this as anything conclusive... they test the Highway MPG at 48mph? They also don't account for different gearing or wheel&tire combinations, which can also make a difference. But he, the guy who wrote the article, also didn't list any references in support of the information he's presenting to me in this article. So I can't agree with you, that it is impossible to get any better then the EPA's "estimated" MPG. But, I will never be able to test this for the simple reason that I like the power of my hemi too much to p---yfoot around with it, I didn't buy a Hemi to drive it like a Honda.

I am surprised at some of the gas mileage being quoted by owners. I don't drive to accomodate fuel mileage, but I do check it when I refuel to see if there is any indication of something not right. Highway is the best usually 17-18 mpg. City mixed is 15-16 mpg and when I tow my 12x6 enclosed trailer 13-14. Maybe setting a little low helps? Don't know. K&N CAI, SC3865 91 tune, Flowmaster duals, 3:55 gear, 30-1/4" tall tires and a fiber glass cap. Pretty much the same as everyone else is running. Just wondering whats up.

Well I get right within that range. 14.5 on the average tank with a 60/40 mix for high vs. city. I averaged 14 last tank and that was a 60/40 mix of city vs. high. I can get 22mpg, but only if I am running 50-55mph with no wind and no major hills. I have 285x70x17 AT's, 3.55 gears, a trueflow XDI, DOR exhaust, and a SC 3815 tuner. So if anything those estimates are a little high because I have a good set up for mileage and I can only get about 18.5 on the highway. All I can say is that the next truck will be a CTD and then I will be able to get 20mpg.
