Default loss of HP after installing new exhaust?

Hi all, glad I found the site....looks like a very knowledgeable group!

I recently had a single in dual out Flowmaster 50 installed on my 07 5.7 HEMI, the three original mufflers were removed. Am I imagining things or did I really lose a little power?
It just seems a little slower off the line now to me.
Anyone else notice anything like this?

thx,
Doobie

Try disconnecting the neg. battery cable for a bit, then reconnecting so the pcm can get used to the increased airflow. A lot of guys have flowmasters and like them, so it seems strange that you would lose power. What size piping did they use?

I'll try the battery trick to see if that makes a difference.
The pipes are 3" but I believe it was reduced at the muffler to 2.5"

Flowmasters are for sound NOT performance so you either lost some or stayed the same and were expecting something more. Reset the PCM and see if that helps.

I have read where some folks see a little low end torque loss from installing a new muffler. However, if you swap your gears, that will fix that! I am getting my 4.10s installed today! Finally!! I am a little excited.

he must be talking about the resonators, and yes. flowmaster is for sound. i have a single 3 inch catback on my dakota, and it just sucks. i went from the cherry bomb, and i cant wait to go back to it.

There used to be a FM 50hd on my truck and when I took it off I gained a little power. I did 0-60 runs with the 50hd and then again 30 minutes later with the new muffler and gained a little (don't remember the exact amount). I was never a fan of that muffler.
