New 4.7L owner. Have a few questions.
Well I finally got the truck I've wanted for a long time. I was the proud owner of a 2004 dodge dakota 3.7L extended cab 2wd. I was happy with it but with the odometer racking up and limited space I was looking for something a little larger and a little more power. Not long after I got my dakota my dad purchased a 2005 Ram 1500 QCSB 4.7L two-tone Red over Silver. Its a classic looking truck and I fell in love with it the moment he brought it home. The truck now only has 60,000 miles on it and it runs stronger than ever. Last week we went to the dealership and he found a steal on a 2009 Ram QCSB 5.7L. We traded the old dak in and I now own the 2005 Ram. Enough rambling though my questions are: Which intake K&N FIPK or AFE stage 2 Pro Dry? Flowmaster 40 SI/DO or Magnaflow equivalent? Does any one know what percent tint comes on the rear and rear passenger glasses? Does anyone have any good pics of 20% all the way around? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Congratz on the Ram! Now for the obligatory smilie
Most of the info you're looking for is in the 3rd Gen Ram FAQ Section, take a look around in there. I'd stay away from Flowmaster if I were you, I used to have a FM muffler, it droned badly, and robbed power. I replaced it with a Cherry Bomb Extreme and haven't looked back. Lot's of people on here swear by Magnaflow though.
As far as intakes, the way I see it, don't waste your money on a name brand CAI, because a tube is a tube. Find a cheap ebay kit for $50-75 and pick up a K&N filter from your local auto parts store for $50 and keep the $200+ you saved not buying a name brand setup.

I agree, as the owner of a Flowmaster 50HD (yeah, 5 years ago I didn't know near what I do now, and believed all the hype), they are quite restrictive. The chambered design gives great sound, but terrible flow.
As far as the CAI, basically anything with a pretty much straight thru path that gets rid of the restrictive plastic cover over the TB will work well, as long as you've got a good filter on it...

I think i've made up my mind about the intake. I realize that i could go the cheap route and build my own or order the ebay intake like I did for my dakota, but I think while i have the money to I'm going to go for the AFE. I finally have a good quality truck and I think that it deserves good quality parts that are dyno proven. I want a good sounding muffler with good flow. I had the flowmaster 40 on the dakota and it seemed to take alot of the low end torque away. I'm not interested in the loud popping that a glasspack gives off. I would like to hear some feedback from anyone who has a magnaflow or cherry bomb. Does cherry bomb offer a muffler in a SI/DO setup? Any other suggestions about exhaust? How effective would adding a smoother flowing y pipe up front be? Here is a pic of the truck as well.
