hey guys i have an 04 short bed 2 door with the 17" wheels. I have put a k&n cold air, flowmaster exaust, hypertech programer and some 4.10 gears. my buddy has a stock lightning, do you think ill be able to hang?

 

Only if you hook a chain to his bumper as he flys by you.

 

It depends on which one of you knows your truck better. If you know how to handle your truck and he doesn't know his then you can probly beat him or the other way around.

 

it depends what year lightning...if its one of the NA lightnings..or the lesser blown lightnings....he should run mid to low 14s stock...you may be able to hang with the stuff done that you listed...

 

If it's a late model Blightening, I don't think so, but that depends on what you mean by "hang." Let us know what happens though.

 

Yeah it all depends on how big of an idiot driver either of you is, and what year his lightning is.

2003 lightning: 4650 lbs, 380hp, 450 lb-ft
1999 lightning: 4650 lbs, 360hp, 440 lb-ft
1993 lightning: unknown, 240hp, 340 lb-ft

2005 ST 2wd: 4600 lbs with the 3.7L v6, so more with the hemi, 345hp, 375 lb-ft

Any of the 2nd gen lightnings should smoke a Hemi, unless the Hemi has a blower bolted on. It's not even a good comparison. The Hemi is going to be a fair bit heavier and way short on power. Plus it's stupid-easy to make more power with a factory blown motor since they're built for it. slap on a smaller pulley and reflash the ECU and they should be able to pick up some good power.

I know this a little out of context, but I saw a Mustang Bullitt with relatively few mods (cold air intake and Nitto DR's) beat a stock '03 Lightning (twice). Once from a dig and once from a roll. Granted, the Lightning did still have the paper plates on it. But the curb weight of the Bullitt is 3,273 lbs. with 275 hp/305 tq. Now I know that is about a ~1400 lbs. weight difference, but does that make a whole lot of difference going up against an '03 Lighting with 380 hp/450 tq? I mean, come on, how hard is it to drive an automatic?

 

No Bull****! My friend also has the Harley Edition of the the F-150. He added the chip and a airaid. Yes his is faster but mine is still stock. I presume if I throw 600 bucks down to instal a airaid and spacers mine would beat the crap out of that lighting WITHOUT a chip. I have a 5.7 HEMI QUAD cab. with dual exaust and a new Ram air hood. He didn't beat me that bad. Just a few seconds.

 

I think as a 2 door HEMI w/mods vrs a Crappy Ford Lighting. You will whoop his ****!
