Default Shift Kits, Anyone Running One?

Alright, despite my hopes to cool it with the mods for a while I am at the point where I am ready for a new mod. If I have any cash when I get back from Italy in a couple weeks I am thinking that shift kit is looking like a good idea. With no trans control from my DSP I need to do something bc I am really not a big fan of the soft stock shifts. It looks like a pretty simple install from what I am seeing; pull the VB, change out some springs and rings, reinstall, splice in a resistor and it is done. So my question is, does anyone have a shift kit in their trans and how is it working for you?

I have heard good things about the transgo shift kits and reprogram kits.

I am looking at the transgo heavy duty reprogramming kit. It seems like a simple enough install and should help firm up my tranny's shifting.

Yeah I have seen some pretty damn fast trucks running the hd kit. I just could never do it myself, the trans internals are one of the things besides the rear diff that I will not touch myself.

Don't have a Transgo shift kit..............but I do have the 03 Torque management free mod whooohoooo!!!!!
Good luck with your kit, as anything that changes these slush boxes to give a better gear change is a plus in my book.

The install does not look too bad, I am just kicking myself that I didn't do it when I had the pan off last time. Maybe I will make up a little DIY if I get a chance to install one of these kits for all of us who want firmer shifts and don't have a programmer to do it with.

When I was looking at shift kits, I was also comparing to modified valve bodies. But then I got side tracked with other projects and had forgot all about it honestly. But you may also want to consider a stage II or III valve body.

I did look at the Stage II VB but it is more money that I really want to put into it. The shift kit is only $75 shipped as opposed to $325 for the Stage II VB.
