no he makes a good point I hate the ****tards with the new lights in the
stock housing they blind me and I drive a lifted truck so for the coutesy
of other drivers I just bought PIAA bulbs and put em in the stock housing
untill I could afford to properly put in HID's or Projectors. The Po is finally
nailing asshats with bright lights and I like this.

I really don't understand why everyone here is proud of blinding on coming traffic and doing things half assed. It throws you right into the crowd of ricers everyone here bashes. Just because someone doesn't flash you, doesn't mean you're not blinding them. Unless they're aimed directly at the ground, they're blinding.

It is not only illegal in literally every state, but totally defeats the purpose of HID's.

To those of you who do have projector housings, thank you for thinking beyond "omfg d00d look how brutal mah headlights are!!!!!11"

Cops around here finally got fed up with the crap and started writing tickets for HID's in non-projector housings.

wow must be upsetting being a bulldog fan..... I have my hids in my stock housings, grant the housings are fairly new and i have received no complaints. I even asked the two cops that lived on my street and they saw no problem with them. i had hids with projectors in my 02 accord, to tell you truth the light pattern is not much different. yes i went to a brick wall and aimed them, and yes there is an abrupt line where the light ends.if you think about it there are some cars that actually come from the factory with hids in housings that are not projectors, some lexus' some lincoln's, sooo relax man, you can always look forward to next seas.... i mean the season after next......

Someone was telling me about something you put over the bulb to reflect the beam down. I'll have to look up the post and do that.

However I've seen TONS of cars with projectors that still blind me all the way up in my truck.
Those range rovers and RXs and G35s all blind me.

Range Rovers are the WORST.
I think it's kinda funny when people flash you cause they think your highs are on, but I'm not that mean. Lol.

I'll have to ask some cops to se if it's a real problem. I can't afford anymore tickets.

it can be in whatever housing you want, if its pointed at you, your gonna get blinded. That's why people need to adjust where their bulbs are aimed or you can get some lids and make your truck pissed and cut the beam of light off at a certain point

It's really funny when people think your high beams are on, so they flash you, and then you really put your high beams on and flash em back!

I've always wondered what they think when that happens.
Buahaha.

Yeah, but those reflector housings are made specifically for HID’s, and are not quite the same as halogen reflectors. And the HID bulbs that are used in reflective housings have a strip along the top to block some of the light to help with the cutoff. Although they can still be blinding since usually HID's in reflectors have manual levelers, not automatic ones like factory projectors have.

But I have had my HID's with aftermarket projectors for about a month now, and have yet to be flashed. And this is compared with my stock halogens, which I have gotten flashed about quite a few times.

Default Vehicle Code

I looked up the vehicle code for california and figured it out.

You can get an infraction for (21466.5) "Display of light source impairing vision of drivers".
Which leaves a ton of room for cops to decide wether it's ticketable or not.
And most are douche bags, so that sucks.

Also something else I found (in ca anyway) is that lights have to be white OR yellow.
I get from this that those blue, 10,000K lights, and higher are illegal.
And I also read on other forums, when I was searching for HIDs, that in CA they're thinking of outlawing 8000K and higher and that it's already illegal in some other states.

"(a) The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from all reflectors, visible from in front of a vehicle, shall be white or yellow, except as follows:

(1) Rear side marker lamps required by Section 25100 may show red to the front.

(2) The color of foglamps described in Section 24403 may be in the color spectrum from white to yellow.

(3) An illuminating device, as permitted under Section 24255, shall emit radiation predominantly in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Any incidental visible light projecting to the front of the vehicle shall be predominantly yellow to white. Any incidental visible light projecting to the rear of the vehicle shall be predominantly red. Any incidental visible light from an illuminating device, as permitted under Section 24255, shall not resemble any other required or permitted lighting device or official traffic control device."
