4.10 gear observations
Recently, I had 4.10s installed. I have had about a week with the truck now and was able to go through a tank of gas to check mileage, etc.
The acceleration is pretty good. Keep in mind that I originally had the 3.21 rear end, so the jump to 4.10 was a good one. I did notice on the freeway that the rpms are about 400rpm higher at speed - not too bad.
I also checked my mileage and it stayed pretty much the same. I average around 17mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I did notice that I can get to speed quicker without as much strain on the engine it seems. Overall the truck feels lke it has more pep, as you can imagine.
So overall, the gear swap was a good thing. I was not looking for a 'drag' truck, but I wanted to be able to get up and go if needed.

3.21s in a QuadCab? Your truck must have been a absolute dog, what was the 0-60 time? 11 seconds? Jumping to 4.10s was a solid move IMO, picked up some acceleration without sacrificing too much fuel economy.

The 4.10's will do that! I got and love em!
nice move
i have 3.73's in mine, and was thinking of going with the 4.10's
so i could put some bigger tires on, and i was wondering if it was worth it

How long did it take you to install the new gears? Also I feel stupid but I heard people say there is a sticker in the glove box that shows what ratio you have. I can't find the sticker. What am I doing wrong?
