Default Surround sound in you quadcab?

This is more specific to QC trucks just because thats what I have. I was thinking of putting a receiver capable of dts, dolby surround sound and putting one of them little center speakers in. Mainly I was thinkning of doing it for all the DTS and dolby music dvd's I have.

So my question for those of you that have it in your truck. Is it worth the extra expense? Are you happy with the sound quality?

My Pionneer AVIC will do full 5.1 and DTS with an add-on component. I dont know of a HU that has all of that built it. Is it worth it? No.

I like that! It really cool looking.

Did you have it custom made or did you buy it?
If you bought it, Where did you purchase it?
Is it fiberglass?
Do you still have speakers mounted in your doors?
How is it mounted?
How does having the speakers up more effect your sound?
Mind if I ask, What is your Head unit?
I am wondering if I could do something like that and install couple small subs in the rear door panels.

i got it made, and its made out of fiberglass.
i still have speakers in my doors.. the same mb quarts as the roof but 6 1/2 (5 1/4 in the roof)
They screwed it in to the metal
the speakers up there sound amazing i love it.. so clear and loud.. i also have a lot of bass so they go well together..
i have a pioneer mb5900 atm but im going monday to buy a double din i forget the model number but i will let you know when i buy it..

That looks real cool but for the tech people out there, the enclosure doesn't look like it has enough air space for those subs to "hit".
How's it sound?
Al.

I think they are all full range up top. The subs are somewhere else.

If you have someone do some custom fiberglass work and build the door pannels out just a hair more, One could put a couple of small subs in the rear doors. They won't be deafiningly bass thumpin shake the world loud, However, Should sound pretty descent. And you preserve your underseat storage or center area.

true surround sound is having a plane crash sound coming from behind you while voices are in front of you. You must have a 5.1 surround reviever capable of producing and splitting the signal that way. You will just get regular stereo left/right with any music cd. I think surround in any vehicle is a complete waste. Not to mention your super close to the speakers in any car so the sound would have to be directed to one specific seat...Driver seat. then the rest of the seating sounds will suffer. It's mostly for show and that's it. Unless you plan on spending every friday/Sat. night at the Ram Movie theater with the Ginormous 7" LCD screen, then i would say it's a waste of time and money.
