Did you see dogs post? If you have the two programmed keys that came with your truck, you can make as many spares as you want for about $20 each. All you do is buy a programmable key, have it cut at a hardware store, then program it yourself. The dealer only gets you if you've lost an original.

Yeah, copies usually run in the $130-$160 range. Wow, I drop my keys often. Don't drop anything else much, both my keys can sure get away. I never carry them in my hand for that reason.

Good luck getting it resolved.

yea the programming process is easy. insert valid key one to on remove instert valide key 2 and then the new one to be programmed. that's a rough run down of it but either way you need two valid keys to begin with.

does keyless and all off the key still work. theres a very very small dot of solder that holds the battery in on some sentry keys and it's prone to be damaged especially in a drop... might just need to drop a bead of solder on that biotch.

Finaly got in to the stealership today and other than 2 hours of my time wasted it was free. They had to replace the key, but I still dont understand what exactly took 2 hours? I watched them pull it in and walk around it a few times, open the hood and peir arond under there for a while, and one guy was even under the truck for a bit. How hard can it be to figure out its a bad key, especialy when I told them its a bad key and one of my two keys makes the truck run and the other doesnt?

I am at least happy that I got it replaced with out having to pay a small fortune.

They had to make sure your air intake didn't kill the key

Its too bad that you dont live closer - guess what I learned to do yesterday while I was out an about helping a friend... program keys like that to dodge car/trucks... I already learned how to do it to my chevy a lil while ago...

I pay attention WAY too much...

LMFAO. Auto Butler???...lol It's called Sentry Key immobilizer system and ALL newer Chrysler vehicles have it. The newest vehicles have 2nd Generation. $2,000...lol You can turn Sentry off with a Starscan tools just the same as you can turn Ford's PATS System off(Passive Anti-theft Deterrent)
Both utilize a chip that transmit a certain RF frequency to the ignition solonoid upon start-up. if the right Freq. isn't recieved, the vehicle shuts off within 10seconds. LOL, the dealer would def make some money on that deal!

Jason
Good to hear you got it covered under warranty as I had suggested it should have been to begin with! Good deal.

ROFL.....I was like what did I just read? i aint ever heard of such a thing yet it sounds like it could actually be something? It does seem logical and makes sense but is nowhere near close for the Rams. Maybe it's something over in England for the Mr. Bean cars??? But not here in the U.S.
