dead ram - ready to give up on dodge
here's my story. 5 or 6 months ago i was in my mega cab with it in park and running. i was on my lunch break and it was cool out so had it running to keep warm. suddenly it died. i turned the key and everything lit up but would not turn over. called the dealer and they said it must have lost communication with key. had to have it towed to dealer. they call and said that a 10amp fuse for pcm was blown. i asked what caused this and they didn't know. my thought was what would have happened if this occured going down the road towing my boat? bad things! so i get my truck and everything is fine until last week. load up wife, kids, and boat and head to her family reunion in missouri. get everything unloaded and boat in the water. everyone decides they want a boat ride so go out to truck and it won't start. same as before so i pop hood and think i'll just put new fuse in. as soon as fuse touches it blows. i'm hard headed so i try another and it blowes right away. have towed again and they call and say pcm is bad. covered under warranty but on back order for at least 2 weeks. the lady also tells me that they have a voyager on their lot that has been waiting for pcm for 2 months. i'm at the mercy of dodge and ready to give up on them. i love the truck but am ready to get rid of it when i get it back. it has been at dealer 3 other times for other issues and i have only had it 2 1/2years. i'm done venting. thanks for listening!
been to dealer 4x in 2 1/2 years? That's not bad, I've seen alot worse. And my 98 dakota was on a waiting list for an ecm on backorder for over 6mo. Took it to a diff dealer bout 5 states away and had it fixed that day, turns out it never needed the ecm to start with. Might wanna try a diff dealer.
I bought a 1994 Dodge Shadow ES with the 3.0 V6 brand new in 94,it was my first new car and I loved it, it was real sleeper, that little car with a V6. THen the problems started, I had the car about 2 1/2 years and I'd say the dealer had it as much as I did,I got really familiar with the stable of rental cars they had. I traded that car in on a Chevy truck and I didn't buy another Dodge for 15 years. Recently I got my new to me 2006 RamQCSB w/hemi and so far I really like it.(I've always been a closet mopar guy) I have to say I never had any problems out of any of the GM vehicles I had. I hope this truck makes me proud of Mopar again.
I am also done!!! As you said I love my truck, when its running its awesome, but otherwise its one thing after another and I only have 72000. Im thinking my next move is to FORDFORUM.COM LOL!!!!!
Now, Now Now..lets not get ugly
I mean FORDFORUM.COM???
Come on guys..we all know there are "lemons" on all car lots don't matter if its DODGE, FURD, or Government Motors or even the other makes which I don't care to mention. If you like DODGE then try trading in on another one. I've got 112k on my 05 and never (in the time I've had it) had any major issues. Just routine maintenance. Don't give up on the RAM!

Go to the ford forum and just be a fly on the wall for a little while before doing anything you're gonna regret. I'll bet you're gonna see some guys there that feel the same way about thier ford. Every brand has problems now and then, just go to a ford dealership and look at the service parking lot, they're not just there for oil changes.
As others said; you could have just gotten a lemon. All automakers have some. Even Toyota! LOL You just have to keep trying with dodge.
My 05' (first year) Magnum was in the shop for a month as the tranny was being rebuilt. Turns out all it was was a small plug that was put on 06+ models to keep water out that 05's didn't have. And clearly I haven't given up on dodge.
Is your's a first year Megacab? Perhaps some problems are from that.

every vehical these days are that way... everything is getting built ****tier, every company is making things outta cheaper ****, to cut costs so they can make more money. Nothing is built like it was 10 years ago. So if you want.... go to FORD be my guest but you will have the exact same problems there and will hate yourself for leaving the dodge family
