Alright I cleaned my throttle body today. Disconnected the sensors. Did I have to physically remove the sensors from the body. Since that's the problem then. Truck is shifting erratically and seems to be reading the throttle body position wrong. Am I right with it being the Position Sensor? Or did I mess up something else now?

 

Anyone? I took the sensor off made sure the hole on the throttle body was free of any junk and put the sensor back in. Seems to have improved shifting a tad but its still a bit off. And the RPM randomly jumps up while driving also. Could the MAP sensor or any of the others have anything to do with this? I'm planning to go get a new sensor in the morning. Just hoping I have the right one.

 

Did you try unhooking the battery for a minute or two?

 

nah haven't actually. Hmm I'll go out and give it a shot now ill also do the pcm reset method.

 

Did you clean with brake cleaner or carb cleaner

 

carb. Could any of the other sensors be causing this problem? Or do I definitely have it narrowed down to the TPS? I've heard bad things about carb cleaner then I've heard things that say its fine. So I used it. Also it seems better now but I still have the occasional jump in RPM and delayed shifting even though its less noticeable now.

 

I would just unhook the battery to reset the PCM. your truck is just trying to relearn its self. it will work the bugs out in a day or 2

Alright I took it out before for a few minutes drove up the expressway a bit hit like 65-70 and stuff. It's still a bit delayed with shifting. I'm taking a nice trip in the morning. Maybe with some traffic and open road. So ill report back after that. If still issues ill pick up a TPS. I checked the tps thread before. For 35-45 bucks ill pick up one. I don't want the same problem again.

 

Try resetting your TPS first, simple turn the ignition on, but do not start the truck. Slowly depress the gas pedal all the way, and then slowly back it off. Then turn the truck off. That'll recalibrate the sensor, and it's possible the calibration was off from being unplugged.
