Question aftermarket sunroof?

soo, JUST WONDERING... has anyone heard of putting an aftermarket sunroof in a ram? more specifically a quad cab? i know there's a support beam right in the middle where the B-pillars are, AND that aftermarket sunroofs are infamous for leaks... but has it been done?

depends who does it for you. i had airstream install mine. clean, nice, and enjoyable. they offer to you that if you ever experience a problem, bring it in and theyll fix it. here in socal i cant relate to a leak or two, but i did have an adjustment problem. took it to them, bingo blamo it was fixed.

sunroof's period are infamous for leaks. Worse on cars though because people set stuff on the roof and the back part gets pushed down. Other than that the rubber sills tend to break down.

As for aftermarket, There are some very nice kits available, Some of which are nicer than what you get stock. Try contacting custom shops or searching ebay.

They aren't to difficult to install, Although, Lot of precision cutting involved. Being that these trucks came with a sunroof option, You may even have a power wire up there.

I installed one on my car a while back, I did it with a friend in about a day. It works great, But I installed it slightly crooked. I still don't know how the hell I did that.

I don't know of anyone whose gotten an aftermarket one installed who has NOT had a leak issue at some time with it. Now granted, I can only think of three people I know of who've had one installed, off the top of my head, but all three had leak problems.

As far as factory ones go, used to be, they ALL leaked. I can remember as a kid, my parents had a LeBaron, loaded with sun roof. Thing leaked from about year three. My step-dad had a late 80's Celica Supra with one. When it was about 8 years old, I had to remove it, re-do all the rotted out roof metal around it, basically fabricate it and replace the entire frame.

I think over the last 10 years or so, they've gotten better and not nearly as much trouble, my '02 GC has one and (knock on wood) no issues yet...

I wish my truck had a sunroof... if you get a good aftermarket one and have a good shop install it. you should have no problems.

ah ha ha, that fake sunroof is halarious. i want one (not the fake one), so basically its hit or miss with the sunroof? you'd figure that as long as it has a good seal than it shouldnt leak...
