Default idle problem fixed!!!

so i dont know if any of your guys' trucks had or have them same problem that mine did, but this is how it went. it would idle high and low, sometimes stall, run rough off the line bla bla bla. well it was and is the throttle position sensor (TPS). $28 from the local auto parts store, 10 minutes to install, BOOM DONE! problem solved. if anyone is having that problem, i suggest you look into the TPS first...

got any pics of the part?
my truck has almost the same problem except the stalling part. when i start it its idle goes up and down. I know mine has miss-fire on 3 different, but maybe this could be the problem.

.
I seriously doubt if you are getting a cel showing misfires that it is the TPS.

Good deal, and you're lucky, because after the '03s it is neither a $28 part nor a simple install. Thanks Chrysler!!!

some of the symptoms of a bad TPS are erratic idling, it goes up and down up and down... in my case the truck would sometimes stall. generally when i hit the brakes and came to a complete stop. and taking off the line it would bog a little then go. here is a couple pics of the sensor. if your looking at your throttle body, its on the right side just before the rubber connecting boot to the center "resonator" box. (or whatever that is lol) to swap them out all it is is a plug and two bolts. Name: IMG_1922.jpg

Mines looks like a simple install, just pricey, I'm sure being on the gas pedal

exact same symptoms here ... stumbled across this thread in the faq/diy section and decided to give a shot and possibly save $30

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...procedure.html

worked! working fine all day so far ... but it's good to know that if i have to replace the sensor later it's only $30 ... but if you're having this problem give this procedure a shot first
