Straight from the Seafoam website:

"SEA FOAM Motor Treatment is a 100% pure petroleum product that safely and effectively cleans internal fuel and oil system components, helping your gasoline or diesel engine run cleaner and more efficiently. SEA FOAM is an EPA-registered product, and will not harm engine components, seals, gaskets, catalytic converters or oxygen sensors."

I didn't change my oil after using it and it looks fine. I also used some in my fuel tank.

did you pour it in your crank case or just suck it up into the intake? because i think you only need to change oil if you put it into your crank case. if not, you will have all kinds of crap floating around in your oil.

personally, i use seafoam every few oil changes. i use it in the intake, crank case, and gas tank. i love the stuff.

well it was black the last time I changed it , but that was only @ 3k after buying the truck so i was not sure how long it had been in there.

I understand that it is the oils job to trap and remove dirt but i dont understand where it is getting the black from unless it is just breaking down.

It should not be seeing that much dirt from around the piston rings should it ?

Truck only has 15k on it so I am trying to get it clean and keep it that way.

heres my new program

1500 drain and fill with new dyno oil with 1 quart of seafoam
drive 100 miles
drain and fill with synthetic

repeat for 4 changes.

using factory mopar filters from now on as well

I think he means it'll thin the crap out of your oil. I wouldn't put seafoam in the oil but if you do don't leave it in there very long....few hundred miles at the most. I use AutoRX in the oil.

I would just use a cheap filter if your going to do such short drains, how much is the mopar filter? Also would sludge build up being cleaned out cause the oil to darken up quickly?

WOW, my 08 Hemi has 17,500 miles on it. The oil is still clean after 5000 miles (dino Mopar oil with Mopar filter). It has never gotten very dark. I would be concerned about that much contamination in a fairly new, low mileage engine. Perhaps the PCV system isn't working properly.
Do you make alot of short trips? Any highway miles?

Yea it might just be best to get an oil analysis to see if they can indicate the source of the contamination http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free_test_kit.html Send a sample to them when you reach the end of the 1500 drain you're on.
