I just called Daystar, he told me the kit (2.5") we have on our trucks was not a good decision, yes I know this, but they told me the angled control arms they did not sell, he said I needed to go down to a 1.5" spacer...

This gets better all the time - My friend called, the tech said I needed an angled control arm. I call and I'm told, no you need offset ball joints. Either way, they both directed me to Stempf automotive so when they call back I'll ask what the real deal is. I can't believe the tech told you that, wonder why they sell them then. oh well

So Chris at Daystar said the offset ball joints would do the same thing as getting angled control arms - I called the number they provided which is 800.638.4460 and the guy mentioned that it would have to be angled control arms but they only have them for 4wd

I noticed that the kit is for the following:
1994-2001 1500 1994-2008 2500 1994-2008 3500

SO - I'm thinking maybe the 2500 series trucks have a different control arm and/or ball joint so maybe I can replace the stock stuff. I'm seriously just considering rippin out the lift and selling the shocks and saying to hell with it LOL

So the company that makes the kit is basically telling you guys, in a nut shell, the upper control arm is too small for this ammount of lift, and is contactings the coil spring/ max ball joint articulation? Ive seen this on a few installs....I am willing to bet if u put your truck on jack stands, let the wheel hang, and take the tire off you will see the problem. The upper control arm is either contacting the coil spring or the strut, or the ball joint is maxed all the way over....either way, this is why leveling kits arent the greatest idea.

It happens on a 2" kit for a dakota, a 2.5" kit for a ford f-150 for sure (i did an install on both), exact problem. I found with my IFS on the dakota, that even 2" causes the control arm to droop to the point of strut spring contact, which makes the balljoint on teh control arm the suspension limiter...instead of the strut, which opens a whole can of worms IMO. There is just no room for extra lift, by making the strut taller with a levleing kit in a double wishbone front end suspension unfortunately.

If it was my truck, I would remove the product and return it. I heard daystar is really good like that.

There's a reason why they only offer 1.5" for a 2wd. I am so glad i went with only a 2" on my 4wd cuz it's close to hitting with my 2" spacers,2.5" would be too close for my comfort. Not to mention wear on the front CV joints by being at such an extreme angle.
