Towing depends on what gears you currently have and if your a 2wd or 4wd. I see your from Canada so I'll assume 4wd. 7200lbs with those gears I believe. Towing can go up to 9200lbs with proper equiptment and 3:92 or numerically higher gears.

depends of the class of hitch you have, ive seen some contractors around here, in north western illinoes pulling bobcats[skidsteers] and other fairly heavy equipment with 1/2 ton Hemis, and for a gear id sujest at least a 4:10 if not a 4:56, what do yall think

I know the newer Rams come with a Class IV hitch. Class 3 is limited to 6,000lbs. Class IV hitches are only rated for 10,00lbs for the WC(weight carrying) ones. The weight distributed one's can haul up to 14,000lbs

Unless those guys have an aftermarket weight distribution hitch, they are way past weight limit pulling around skidsteers. The rams allowable GVWR does not entail pulling around skidsteers. Even the smaller one's weigh 7,000lbs alone. Then they need to go up onto a HD tandem axle trailer or a tri-axle trailer. Either one of those 2 puts the weight limit past what the ram is suppose to do. Just because you see guys doing something, doesn't make it right or safe!

No suc thing as a 3:99 ratio. They are 3:55, 3:92, 4:10 & 4:56's. Gears won't mess up your computer. They will only change the odometer readings. There are a few ways to fix gear/tire size ratio's. Going to the dealer and them using a starscan tool or buying an handheld tuner such as Diablo Predator or Superchips. Both are $325-$400 range

Also, changing gears out on a 4x4, you'll need to get the front gears done as well which doubles the price. For a straight up gear swap from 3:55's to say 4:56's, it'll cost around $1200 just in labor

i agree with ya dog, but you know how some contractors are, that why around here the state police and dot have a field day with those clowns, i personally would opt for a 3500 w/TCD if i was in the position of hauling stuff like that daily, but thats what my pa and papa tought me, do it right the first time and safely so you dont hurt anyone or yourself
