I have a 1/2 ton 2003 5.7L. I pull a 22' car trailer with a large skid loader or a small excavator. Total weight is about 10,500. I have electric brakes on the trailer and an actuator in my truck. With this much weight (I think the truck is overloaded if you check the owner's manual), the truck does sit a little. Also, when you come up pretty good hill and you're going 50 MPH, you pretty much have to go 50 MPH all the way. It doesn't like to accelerate with that much weight. A civic on a small trailer won't be more than 4,000 Lbs. I don't think. I wouldn't worry about installing electric breaks.

You're gonna kill somebody. You are way past the max weight rating for your truck for the brakes, frame and hitch!! Glad you ain't driving around me
