These guys have great Dodge Ram lowering kits. Are Bilstein shocks the way to go? Thanks for any help.

Man, your truck looks good but I don't think you followed the instructions that came with the lowering kit. lol

Too better answer your question, Bilstein are good shocks. Many companies offer shocks for a specific drop/lift. But I like to calculate the actual dimensions of what is needed and use a shock chart to pick a shock that meets my needs. I use the Monroe shock listing and if you don't like Monroe you can take the number and cross reference it at the auto store to another brand.

so i didnt measue my truck before and after i lowered it, but i think im sitting at a 2/4.5 drop. i wanna go another inch lower, be at a 3/5 or maybe 3/5.5... does anyone have any pics of a 3/5 drop. it always seems to be 2/4's or 4/6's. was thinking of spindles or c-arms up front and helper bags, minus a couple leafs out back...

Ok so after reading quite a few pages (I have mine set to 20 posts per page) and after drooling over LvL lifting my truck . . . I still want to LvL it out but with just dropping the rear for the end result. Not looking for a 2-4 4-6 or anything. Been looking around but thought I'd come here and ask you guys first. Reason for the look change is it see's a h*** of a lot more pavement than dirt on a daily basis, so instead of the performance off road look. I'm going for the street performance look. Can't wait to see what she looks like in a few years after she's all paid off and I can save that money up for mods.

End result would more than likely be 18" wheels (Or heaven forbid I score some SRT wheels then ofc those) with 30-31" tires. A slight rake is OK due to possible loads (quads/bikes).

Thanks!

drop shackles and remove the overload leaf... that will give you pretty much a perfectly level stance. or if you dont care about a .5'' rake, just do the drop shackles.

So i just finished installing the drop kit on my truck and i thought i would try to post a picture of it an find out what you guys think. I hope the picture comes because i have not used this thing before. Anyway the kit is a DJM flipkit with drop shackles and 2" drop coils up front. i had to cut off my aftermarket exhaust because the pipes hit the drive shaft. the truck sat on the bumpstops all the way around so i removed the rear bumpstops and lifted the shackles up one hole. now plenty of clearance but the stock shocks bottom out after 3" of travel. i am going to run air shocks in the rear with a valve stem under the bumper somewhere so i can level the back out with my quad in it. I guess in the front i am going to have to go to shorter bump stops and new shocks as well.

Crazy,
Your truck has a great look to it. Matter of fact, I would say perfect. Tires/wheel spot on... If you go back through some of my postings in the lowered thread you can see pictures of the bump stops I used. I think I am running about as big of a tire as you can without rubbing. 285/50-20. I knocked the bump cups off the front and have aftermarket stops now. The ones in the picture for the front are about a 1/4" too short and I re-did them and made them a 1/4" taller. Good luck...
