Only passenger speakers work while playing cds

Has anybody seen this before? I'm hoping it's a common problem with a simple solution since it is extremely annoying.
When I'm listening to the radio all speakers work fine (I have the Infinity setup by the way). Then when I switch to an mp3 cd (or regular cd for that matter) only the passenger side speakers work. I checked the settings to make sure everything was dead center and it was. If I fade all the way to the driver side there is no sound at all.
It clearly isn't an issue with connectivity to those speakers since the radio works fine, but at the same time I'm hoping it's not time for a new head unit already.

lol
Actually, very good question to start ruling out the endless possibilities...
I have read many times that people were having trouble with their speakers not getting ouput or distorted ouptut. Seems like a common issue for Chrysler. Just be aware of buying used on ebay for similar problems.
