Default Recent Service: P/S Rack and Trac Loc?

So last week i took my truck to the dealer to get the tires rotated, the ac recharged, and i asked them to inspect the thing to see how things were. Sure enough, just as i thought, wound be coming soon, after 120,000 mi, they informed me on a call that my p/s rack is leaking and they want $1400 to fix it. Not only that, I was shocked to hear I was having a problem with the differential. They say that upon inspection, in the rear differential, the trac locs are wearing and need to replace. They wanted $2600 total for both. I don't know about you boys and girls, but my wallet is a little empty at the moment. I told them no. I know that the p/s thing is likely to be going out. But are they giving me a bunch of bull with this differential thing? Has there been problems with our trucks and the rear differential? anyways, Im going to order the p/s rack off of ebay, its a mopar from a dealer in washington for $350, dealer quoted me $580 + tax. So imma gonna get that and me and my dad are gonna do that. Whats your take on the estements they gave me and has anyone had problems with the differential?
Thanks!

my rack an pioin was on its way out and the dealer told me $850 (560 and changefor parts) plus labor. I laughed and walked out. went to the parts store got the part for $211 with life time warr. and it took me and houf/half to replace it super easy. If you have a friend that has a lift it would be even easier yet.

Search for limited slip and you will find bunches of threads about the crappy factory LSD unit. The c-clips are prone to call out and cause damage to the rearend assembly. Might want to find out exactly what is wrong with it.
As for the leaking rack and pinion, this seems to be a common problem as well. Aftermarket from a local shop will be much cheaper, I'm sure.
Not bad to replace, just needs to be aligned after the install.

Got the mopar rack off of ebay $350. Dealer wanted 560 ish. My dad did it all by himself while i was on vacation. and then another 70 for the alignment. Its all good now and I also got my new bumper installed along with my tow hooks.
