Remote key vs sentry key
The Sentry key has a chip in it, that is encoded to the specific vehicle that is using it. If the vehicle is started using a non Sentry key or the incorrect Sentry key, the PCM shuts down the fuel pump so the vehicle can not be started.
I think a Remote key is just a key that has the buttons to lock and unlock the doors built into the key and a Remote key can also be a Sentry key... but I'm not positive on that one

The sentry key is a key with a chip and no remote buttons. I have one for each of my 3 Dodges for a back-up. You need two working keys to program the 3rd, so I keep an extra just in case. I get them from www.amazingkeys,com.

I have 2 keys as shown below (with the remote buttons). So, I can buy a key like what you are showing from Amazing and have it cut and then I can program it to work in my 2006 Ram 1500 and it will work without any problem?
In this thread (above), what does Jimbo mean when he says "If the vehicle is started using a non Sentry key or the incorrect Sentry key, the PCM shuts down the fuel pump
so the vehicle can not be started. "? Is this a concern? Thanks for the feedback.

With this system, an electronically coded ignition key
sends a signal to the vehicle electronics. If the electronics
recognizes the signal, the vehicle will start and continue
to run. If the system does not recognize the signal the
vehicle will start and run for a maximum of 2 seconds
after the initial key ON. After six unsuccessful attempts
at starting, the system will shut down until the correct
key is used.

Jimbo, thanks for the feedback. I want to get an extra key that will work with my truck; one without the remote buttons. I'm just trying to insure that the one I get (like from Amazing) will work properly (assuming that it is cut and programmed properly).

You can program new keys to the system if you have two
valid keys by doing the following:
1. Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the
ignition to the ON position for at least 3 seconds but no
longer than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition back to the OFF
position and remove the first key.
2. Insert the second valid key and switch the ignition to
the ON position within 15 seconds. After 10 seconds the
Security Light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition back
to the OFF position and remove the second key.
3. Insert a blank Sentry Key into the ignition and switch
the ignition to the ON position within 60 seconds of
having removed the second key. After 10 seconds the
Security Light will stop flashing, then turn on for 3
seconds; then turn off.
The new Sentry Key has been programmed. The Keyless
Entry Transmitter will also be programmed during this
procedure. Repeat this process to program up to an
additional 6 keys. A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed
to the system, including the original keys
provided with the vehicle.
It should work fine as long as the key you purchase has not been programed and is the correct type for you vehicle. once you get they key cut, just follow these steps to program it if you haven't already seen them:

Thanks, Jimbo.
The sentry key (non-remote) works just fine. Only catch I have is if I lock my truck with a remote but open it later with the just the key in the door lock, the alarm will go off. And unless you have the remote with you it will sound until you start the truck.
Not a big deal but can get annoying.
