Remote key vs sentry key
I'm not gonna read everything above as it seems back and forth yadayada...etc
The Remote Transponder key and the Gray sleeved keythat are in Post #5.......
They ARE SENTRY II KEYS.
THEY ARE IDENTICAL as far as the ecu is concerned.
A Sentry Key is just a key with a chip inside of it that sends a specific frequency wave to the ignition switch and ecu.
Both of those keys have the same chip. Now there's Sentry and Sentry II. Older Sentry is the black keys and new Sentry II are the gray sleeved keys. If the the ecu doesn't get the right programmed key, it will shut off within 10seconds. Not sure how many times before it locks itself? You CANNOT use Sentry I keys(black sleeved singles) to work with Sentry II ignitions. Same as the other way around.
I have a gray sleeved Sentry II key for my truck because I have an aftermarket Alarm 2-way pager that locks/unlocks. The factory remote key is just ridiculously huge to fit on my key ring in my pocket.

Yes, I buy the key from Amazing keys, and have it cut locally. Then just follow the procedure that comes with the key to program it. Takes about a minute.
If you start one without the key being programmed, it will run for a few seconds, then quit. It will not crank over again for about 20 seconds, even with the correct key. Once you have a correct key, it will start back up with no problems. Did it earlier with my niece's new 09 Avenger. I just programmed her new key today.

Thanks for the nice and complete explanation. I appreciate it.
In Remote transponder key, the computer is programmed in order to get the signals from the remote transponder key, you can lock and unlock the doors using the remote buttons. While in sentry key has the chip encode in it, that is encoded to the specific vehicle that is using it and we can start the engine of a car with using the non sentry key as well and it does not have the remote buttons.
