I get the best gas mileage at around 62 mph.

I drove from pensecola florida to shreveport louisiana, 507 miles, on one tank of gas.

The quad cabs should actually not get worse gas mileage than the regular cabs (diference of 1ish mpg) because though they weigh more quad cabs have better areodynamics (something about the short cab causing choppiness)

The 4.7 only gets 1 mpg better than the hemi in official tests (that is from memory.. it might be 2). The 4.7 is nowhere near as fun. The 4.7 gets less respect. Still a good engine, but not worth the savings of 1500 (cost of engine and required transmission), as far as my needs are concerned.

The Hemi's gas mileage increases greatly after 5000 miles (ws getting >8 mpg in the city when I was under 450 miles).

Got 23.2 MPG between shreveport and dallas.

Hemi Ram reg cab with the numerically small rear end and 17's

I have over 15,000 on my truck and the only time I got below 13 was when towing a 4000 lb boat. I normally average just over 15 combined city/hwy and consistantly get over 17 when highway. My QC 4x4 dakota with a 4.7 never got as good of mileage as my 4x4 QC Ram with the hemi. My neighbor has a QC 2x4 Ram with the 4.7 and only averages about 14.

I have a 2003 HEMI quad cab larime with a truck cap.

I can get 20.0 MPG all day long cruising at exactly 62 MPH.

The truck cap greatly changes the aerodynamics and above 62 I get a really funky wind gyration... with lots of wind noise...

I have a 2005 Hemi Quad cab with 17in tires and 392 gears and a fiberglass tonneau cover....only 1300 miles when I left for a 210 mile trip this past weekend...

OK I filled up just off the interstate and reset everything and at no cruise control and 75 I was at 15.8. The I switched to cruise control and set it at 71(I don't know why I picked that number) but only 4 miles an hour less on cruise I was averaging 17.0 by the time I arrived home.

I was pretty happy with that and knowing that with a little more breakin time it should do better.

I have the qc 4x4 with 20 inch wheels. I only get about 15 around town. but like i said earlier in this post i got about 17 on the highway. an open bed will kill your gas milage. you need a tonneau cover, or cap to get better.
