has anyone been successful in pulling the plastic off the front and rear bumpers and getting them back on without breaking anything..

 

can't powdercoat plastic it would melt once it went in the oven to bake.

 

yeah i pulled the plastic off my back bumper, its held in place by little clips that you squeeze and they release, i didnt powder coat it but i covered the bumper in rhino lining.

 

I took the plastic part off the front bumper only when i had the whole bumper off. Try taking it off and if you break it they are replaceable.

 

i was just wondering how they come off and how easy it is to get off and on....

thanks for the info, im not looking at powder coating the plastic, dont think it would due to good in the ovens...just the metal parts of the bumper

how much was it to rhino line your bumpers?

 

i just did mine a couple months ago just took pliers to the clips and squeezed and lifted one at a time went back on fine

 

hey did you paint your grill frame? it looks good... if you could let me in on the details

That's not true.

Here's a few way to powder coat plastic

1. Use a very high temperature plastic (nylons, polyamides) with standard thermoset powders. May require a prep coat or pre-heating.

2. Use a variety of lower temperature plastics with a low temperature thermoset powder.

3. Use a variety of lower temperature plastics with a UV cure powder.

 

right i understand you can powder coat plastic but i am refering to the GRILLE FRAME. it wont fair well in the ovens.. they are not high temp plastic

does anyone have pics of there bumpers and grilles after a diy paint or coating job.
