mythbusters did that myth twice and the second time the added one of those net tailgate and that had more of a mpg increase better than anything else.

i have a fiber glass leer tonneau and i havent noticed any difference in mpg. but then again i never drove with it off before.
probabily in the city the mpg is worse cuz im getting 5mpg bellow epa rating and im not fat or anything so i blame the extra weight of the bed cover

I have a Pace Edwards retractable cover. The model is Jackrabbit. I like it. The only problem with the retractable ones is the box that holds the retracted cover is kind of big. It's about 8"x8". But, the pros of it are you get most of your bed rather easily when you need it. It seems secure, but like any thing, a person could get into it if they wanted to. They would need some tools or an axe or something though. I don't even have a locking tailgate. Where I live, poeple aren't opening doors to find stuff. Most thieves are theives of opertunity. They will grab it if they can see it.

Yep same here, long trips definitely have better mpg than without it not much though. I also like the extra weight over the wheels, not as bouncy as it was. I didn't get mine for the mpg though, I got mine so I could lock the bed of the truck while Im out in the field for work.

I also had the Pace Edwards Roll top on my 94 CHevy, It was very nice,I had it for about 8 years after about 5 years I had to replace the spring roll thing that helps roll it up because the drain lines got plugged with pine needles and the housing filled up with water(weeks before I realized it had water in it) I think they offer a kit to make it lock to your tailgate internally so it is pretty secure, but as with most locks they keep honest people honest and ward off Lazy thiefs but determined ones will get in if they want to.

I have an 06 MegaCab with the Hemi, I didn't notice a difference in mileage. As far as the Mythbusters thing, windows down and a.c. off gets better mileage in my truck, by almost 2 mpg, than a.c. on and windows up.
