nice, it looks clean. i was looking at a roll up, i think that might be the way to go, i need room for a bed rack for the kayaks, and bike rack. i got pulled over for having a bike rack that fits into the hitch, because it covered my license plate, so i got the one that fits in the bed. i dont think the roll up would get in the way

LXman it seems like a thief with a pocket knife would quickly make your locking tailgate obsolete?

Well, that is true, but locks only keep honest people out anyway. A hammer will open up a fiberglass hard cover just as easy. Other than the vault at Fort Knox, down the road a bit, nothing is theft proof.

Out of site out of mind,I agree, but I think you wasted your money on the tailgate lock.

Not really. Tailgate locks are a good thing to have. A little while back there were a lot of them being stolen off of parked trucks because they could easily open the tailgate and remove it without setting off an alarm. I'm satisfied with my cover because it locks and lips over the tailgate so it cant be opened without opening the cover first.

Oh! OK, I wasn't thinking of tailgate theft only protecting valuables in the bed, from that perspective it makes sense. (I live in a rural farming county not much tailgate stealing around here, lol)

Which is why i removed that heavy rear bumper/tow package and put a roll pan That way the tonneau weight doesn't really matter and the truck is more aero dynamic.

That was my main reason. To protect my tailgate. It was only about $25. It's been standard on Ford trucks for years. My 01 had it. Same key as the doprs and ignition. Why Dodge hasn't gotten with the program, I have no idea.
