Welcome to DF and I think you should do as the others said and get a complete tune-up (sparks, oil, etc.) and see what happens. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, I mean for sure that would be a good, cheap place to start just to get things rolling. Let us know what happens, someone will definitely have some ideas on it if that doesn't fix the problem.

and welcome to DF:P

I pulled a trailer when I still had my 4.7 and it was no problem at all...Something sounds messed up with his truck.

Like he said though, those guys telling you to re-gear sound like they are just trying to get some money out of you for sure.
Well what are your suggestions there Bro? What I said was just a suggestion of something he could check on other than doing like you did and telling him "something is messed up". I think he knows that.

No no no, then I agreed that it would be a good, cheap place to start. I was just thinking maybe it's something more serious, no disrespect to you haha. I know you know a LOT more about these trucks than I do, I was just thinking out loud-trying to throw in some thoughts in case they would be helpful haha.

As for the tires being too big, like someone said the trucks can come with 20" rims (I'm assuming you meant the rim size, or did you mean the actual tires that are on the rims?). Yours might have come with them too, unless you know for a fact that it came with 17s and someone put the 20s on there. Even so, I'm not %100 positive that something like that would make this much of a difference, but it might?

Btw bear, I've never actually really looked at your profile to see your truck, but that thing is so clean lol. I really like ur ride

ya definately change the oil so you know when the last it was changed and that it WAS changed... id rather pay the extra lil cost to keep the motor in tip top shape than to bank on what some guy/girl is telln me that i dont know... and do as the others were sayin, check the air filter, try changn spark plugs and so on... its definately not your gears, thats shops just tryin to make some money outta ya lol

I agree about the gears. I'll Change all the fluids, wires and plugs out this weekend and see if that helps. Does this 4.7 V8 shut down to 4cyl. for fuel economy?

The tire are 275/55/20 if that helps any? checked the total diameter of the wheel and it measured out to br 32 1/2 "

What programmer suits this truck? Superchip, Hypertech ect....??????

Also any fun problems to arise with this year of truck? you know known issues that everyone seems to have like tranny problems, water pump, over heating that kind of stuff?????????

Thanks you guys

Could be a tranny issue. Certainly a tune up is in order. Did it have any guts when you bought it?

No. Rams didnt have mds until 06 I believe. Which I hear is pretty much useless. My friends say it stands for "More Dumb Stuff."
