^^^ No doubt most people don't need all that. i agree with that. But. Simple will never sound better period. that's what i was getting at. Good enough for 90% of the guys out there..YES.. Good enough for me...Hell no!

As far as lower power subs being more efficient....it's peanuts for what we are dealing with and that's another topic all by itself....lol

well back to the point of the thread. He may have only need a little thump and for what it is, it most likely lives up to his standards but ny looking at the box and how its just a flat board being held down by the seat bolts and seeing theres a huge crease that separates the two pieces, a bigger amp and better subs will sound like crap in his situation

and thats partly my point too... with what the OP has, there would be little point throwing more money at it if it gives him what he wants, anyway you look at it $50 is cheap... period.

I am 41, built many systems for celebrities, lots of high end cars(ferrari, lambo, porsche, tons of vipers and pretty much anything else from about 5 years old going back(last 5 years I have tried to find better things to do than crawl under car dashboards). And even after all these years even I go with a simple system: 2 - Cadence 10" beasts in cheapo standard seperate truck boxes, a Cadence Z5000 750 watt mono amp, a 1 farad cap, a small soundstream amp for the front door speakers(stock) and dash tweets(mb quarts), 4 ga power and grounds and a Pioneer AVIC-N3(with sirius and IPOD modules) that I got for free from a dealer auction car. And thats it... a very simple system that has been in and out of the last 2 trucks over the last 6 years or so. I had a Sony head unit before the Pioneer that actually sounded much better than the pioneer because it had a higher line level output voltage but the Pioneer was free, has NAV and I sold the Sony to my step dad who is still enjoying it to this day.

And you know what, from this installers point of view, I feel I only get screwed doing big systems. You spend so much time even after your technically "done" tuning the system or doing this or finishing that even weeks later that to me they are just not worth it. I would rather do a small system and make a hundred or 2 good profit that goes away never to be heard from again than a big system that I waste untold hours on, yeh make several hundred more on but that comes back like a bad dream because the customer has been messing with the settings and it now sounds like crap... or worse, because you effectively doubled the amount of components by selling the customer the sound processor and the eq and the electronic crossover and whatever else that ends up going bad, because something always does and then you find out that you cant get another of that item and you have to rebuild a dash or custom amp enclosure or whatever to make the new non same sized piece fit it.

I don't think you are gonna need a cap with that amp though.
Lol so THAT'S how I can stop the lights dimming?

Caps are alright, but honestly in my opinion they are just a waste of money, it was a good way for the stereo companies to sell more product for more money, your better off getting a kinetics from most stereo stores, or getting a dual battery setup, or even just a higher output alternator. Ive already got the higher output alternator and the double battery setup, I have the alternator in and am just waiting to put my double batteries in, and my capacitor did nothing for my truck until I got the better alternator in and I run a 1.5 farad rockford fosgate cap.

Capacitors can actually become a burden on your system if they aren't working right, but I have personally had good luck with the 1 farad cap in my Jeep system.

Absolutely true! Damn good looking turd. As for a new amp, not gonna happen anytime soon. I'd love to get a new one but my boss isn't handing out raises just yet. I would never have done this if I had to spend more than I already did. Just got it because it was cheap. What can I say, I shop at the dollar store because Walmart is too expensive, LOL!!!
