I did an oil change today, i'm at 15k miles, and there was white gunk all over the cap and the little part that fits into the neck. Is that normal? It almost looked like grease. I took a pic and will post it a bit later, until then, any suggestions? The first few oil changes were done at Dodge, after that I switched to Mobil 1, is that a characteristic of synthetic?
You need to get it back to your dealer. Apparently your PCV system has failed or something more major such as head gasket, crack in block or head. Bottom line you have water getting in your crank case or for some reason condensation is building up inside your engine. If you drive your truck each day you should not have condensation unless something is wrong. Very bad situation because you are washing down your bearing, etc. with a mixture of antifreeze and water. Please let us all know what they find.
This happens when you live up north and you don't let you truck warm up in the winter before you drive off on short trips. Warm truck up thoroughly and immediately change oil.
Alien has a great point. I had the EXACT same problem with a pontiac and a chevy while living in Wisconsin. Never had a bad head gasket. It was just condensation. Both cars went well over 100k before i sold them. Either way i would take it to the dealership and take your pics with you. See what they say and keep an eye on it.
