Why not just put a Magnaflow high flow cat converter on if you want to change it up a little?

Its a lot cheaper to straight pipe it and buy the spark plug non foulers rather than get a high flo converter.

no. no one has EVER removed their cats. EVER!!!! dont beleive me? you shouldnt... use the search!!!

and yes, mine are out. non-fouler trick works just fine. i have an 03

edit: but why are you doing this? if you're searching for more power, you'll lose power pulling out the cat. they're already high-flow and provide the right about of back pressure. you'll lose a lot off the bottom end pullin em out. i only took mine out because leaving them in with the longtubes was too much work.

Many people remove the cats, although unless it's a fitment issue, I really don't know why. The cats used in the 3rd Gen trucks are very free flowing. This isn't the '70s anymore, when cats were terrible for flow. Modern cats, when working properly, offer very little restriction.

Now for my about face. Because your truck has some age on it and I'd guess fairly high mileage, the cats are probably fairly clogged by now. So in your situation, I'd prolly opt to cut them out or replace them with some high flows.
If you decide to ditch them, I have a DIY on the non-fouler trick so you won't have to ride around with a CEL. It's in the FAQ section...

My truck has around 70,000 miles on it. Its only driven on the weekend and some times not even then. I read Your post in the FAQ section was wondering if any one on the DF had tried it on there Dodge.
