I believe there should not be any whine also. My guy works for the Dodge dealership and does rear ends. He told me he set everything per spec and double checked it. Now all i can do is believe that because I dont have that kowledge but if that is true then maybe he needs to set things out of spec (+/-) to quiet the gears is my opinion. However, getting a shop to trouble shoot with that time of mindset and time involved by taking it apart each time can be a challenge.

The guy I was talking to over at 4wheel parts said there should not be any whine at all as well. And if it takes them a day to pull the cover and take a look at it and need to replace something if it needs replaced or adjust something all under warranty then by all means Im going to let them. Better to be safe than sorry

Hammer can back me up on this, the guy that set my gears had it done in no time flat (once he actually started working on the damn truck) and they don't make a whisper.

Mine were very quiet from the start, not even a hint of a whine. Mine started its whine about 6,000 miles into having them on.
