Default Is this a good deal... Update

Or do you have any advice for making this into a good deal?

2005 Quad, Hemi, Laramie, 47,000 miles, alarm, 6 dsc CD, leather, heated seats power everything asking $16,000 but has been on the market a few months so thinking I could get for less. Let me know what you think.

I am doing the deal at the request of my son who is in afghanistan. He thinks this is a good one and doesn't want to miss out. I just don't have much experience haggling.

All thoughts and opinions welcome and appreciated.

Just giving this a bump. I could really use some guidance and was hoping someone here could help. Thank you.

I am going to look at the car later today and may want to purchase. I just don't know what I should offer/pay.

Kelly Blue Book puts it in the range of 13,800 to 15,500 depending on condition so he is a little high unless it is 4x4 then he is about right on. I would say if it is a cash deal start at 13,000 it is very hard to say no to cash now days. Good Luck.

Seems kind of high. I would throw a low offer at him and see what he says. You should also ask him what happened to the rims the truck came with bc those rims pictured did not come with it if it is a Laramie. You could just use that as another point to talk him down on price about.

it does seem like it's too high.about 3 years ago i got mine.it's an '05 with the 4.7 and it had 30,000 miles on it and i paid $15,000.this may have the hemi in it and it may be a laramie but i'd still try to get it down quite a bit.

i agree with offering 13k cash and see what he comes back with, i think you could very well end up gettting it for 14... worth a shot

$13-14k for that truck, other than the low mileage, there's nothing special that would raise the price up by two thousand. Don't be afraid to haggle, one thing I do when buying cars, or going with a friend to buy a car is always have a similar vehicle that's listed on autotrader on a piece of paper. If the sales guy seems unwilling to deal, we simply say, "well lets go check out this truck as such and such place" and start walking. Funny how fast people will start to deal when you start walking away.

Thanks so much for the help. It is a 4x4. This will help alot.

Follow up ? would it be better to ask him what he is willing to take for it first, or just go in offering 13,000?

And, is it better to show up with actual cash? I hate to carry around that much money, but will if it will make a difference.

Just make the offer straight out. If you ask him what he wants and he says "$15k," then you look bad offering him $13k.

Don't bring the cash. I always do the transaction inside a bank.
