Hello everybody. I'm "pops"- the owner of this project Ram. I bought this Ram brand new back in '02 with six miles on the odometer and it has been a fantastic truck. It just went over 159,000 miles (hence the user name Second-hand-lion) and it is truly a work truck. I've been building jeeps since '89 and haven't really considered pimping the truck until recently so that's why the truck looks unfinished. I have a complete theme that I intend to use but as we all know, the economy threw a wrench in a lot of plans. My son is definitely fanning the flames to get my/our projects going but the one thing I learned from building jeeps is that, every now and then, you have to take a hard look at what you want in a theme and don't do something that you're going to regret (and waste your money). Hell, it's taking me forever to find the rims that I want- either they don't fit a Ram or are ridiculously priced. The whole build process is an evolution and doesn't get finished in a one hour tv show with an unlimited budget. Thanks for the input from you guys and I think you'll like the end result. Now watch the FAA bust my *** for something...

I couldn't sleep last night and so I spent the night surfing drop kits and tire/wheel combinations... dammit. I guess I'm going to go with the DJM control arms and their rear flip kit, 20" black Boss 335s' with yet-to-be-determined rubber. I'm open to first hand knowledge of components (not the "I know someone who knows someone who is dating his sister's first cousin's grandmother's niece who heard about a drop kit someone put on a John Deere tractor..."). I also found some awesome pictures of P51D Mustangs that are helping me refine the theme. I have a buddy who does automotive painting so, at least, I have an edge there. Btw, has anybody's dash cracked yet? Mine cracked right in the middle and I'm looking for the best overlay to cover it- anybody? anybody? And another thing- who made the post under my user name?Today 01:34 PMSecondhandlionhaha, mine's already empty!!!

Was that you Junior? If I say "Junior" with a Scottish accent, I sound just like Sean Connery... but I digress.
Standing by for feedback.

Pops

either way you'll spend the same amount. control arms up front and flip kit out back... bout 550-600 bucks. besides, you gotta replace those ball joins anyways!

To stick with the P-51 theme, mount a big propeller on the front

Maybe air brush the 6 exhaust pipes on each side like the ones coming out of the Merlin engine.

Oh yeah, the exhaust pipe tips are a definite. I'm going to lose the graphic on the rear window also. I hate the idea of losing "Betty" but it no longer fit's the theme (although it was the genesis) and when those shade graphics get wet, the little holes fill with water and cannot be seen through which I'm not real keen on. As for a propeller on the front, I don't think that is feasible but I can't help but wonder how much fun it would be to have six forward mounted .50s'...
