Default tie rods @ 42000 miles?

I took my truck to the alignment shop, they say it needs both inner and both outer tie rods replaced.
they took me out and showed me while truck was on the rack.

is it common for Dodges to need these parts at 42000 miles, my last truck was a 02 F150 that had 90000+ miles and never had any front end work.

anybody reccommend what brand parts too get?

Instead of inner tie rods I'd get a rack and outer tie rods. The rack comes with the inner ones installed and the racks on these seem to leak after a while anyway.

Depending on the price of the rack that is.

I just had a front wheel bearing assembly replaced under warranty on my 08 2wd (same as a 4wd as are the rotors and such) @ 19,000 miles. I have heard of others with premature tie-rod failure.

how did the front wheel bearing fail? did it sieze? have play? or just start making noise and getting rough and draggy?

I am having some issues with the front wheel bearings on my 07 1500ST
