The add-ons are the ton of sand or whatever in the bed. What kind of dealer leaved all of that crap in the bed when trying to sell a truck??

Default Rule of Sales

1- A sale is made when both parties leave the table feeling they got over on the other person
Example- Dealership has 10K invehicle
Customer states- I will give you 10500
Answer 1-Dealership goes ok....
Result- Customer thinks they got ripped off because the dealership agreed so quickly
Answer 2- Dealership goes- I need 12000
Customer agrees to 10750
Dealership Drops to 11500
Customer agrees to 11000
Result- Customer and dealership feel they win
2- I never ever posted my lowest price.... Some dealerships do.... But if you come in on the lowest price be ready to get a low trade value

Suggestion from a former car pro is this- Negotiate your deal from all aspects not just 1... 4 parts to the deal-
Price
Payment
Trade
Down payment

3 things that decide if you buy
Right place/Salesman
Right vehicle
Right price (includes all of the above)

No one on the board (and I do not mean any disrespect by this) can tell you if it is a great price till you look at all 4 parts.... Here are 2 examples
Truck- 18000 trade- 16000 Payments 360 with interest 14.9

Truck- 16000 trade- 14000 Payments 360 with interest 14.9

As you can see they will be the same.... Maybe this is a dealership that is known for giving good values for trade... We really do not know... Go in educated... Print out Edmunds... Kbb ..... NADA.... And if you know a used car manager look at the black book... If you dont PM me and I will get Black book for you Monday

Also depends on how upside down you are on the trade-in vehicle.
As for the actual value of the truck in question, it depends on the local market that you are in as well. Trucks sell for more in rural areas than they do in urban areas due to supply and demand.
The above factors mentioned also play into consideration.

I understand what you are saying, I just wanted to get everyone's opinion prior to making an offer. I guess I should have explained my whole situation again before posting on this truck. I HAVE to go through a dealer due to having a 2004 F150 Screw with 64k miles with a motor on it's way out. I had the bearings replaced, for a band-aid and now I need to find something somewhat quickly. I don't want to end up in the same situation all over again though, so I am trying to be very careful making this purchase. I am a little reluctant with this truck having 60k miles, but according to kbb, the truck books at 23k, and Nada was 20.5k. I have access to Black Book through Fowler Dodge OKC's website, but haven't checked it yet. Now, like you said, the lower the offer to them the less they are going to give me for my trade and since I have only owned it for 7 months I still owe 15k. I realize I am probably going to be a little upside down, but I am trying to find something worthy of carrying that little bit of negative equity. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me!

What have you been offered for your vehicle? Have you tried a Carmax? In this area they are normally very competitive on trades to give you a fair idea of what you are looking at... Banks will usually lend up to 120% of Nada

Sounds like too much. Visit Edmund's and find out what it's worth, then deduct a couple of hours removing the extra bling.

I may run down and see what Carmax will offer me. We haven't got to the point of an offer on our truck yet. We have financing taken care of already, our credit union will loan up to 125% of nada.

Check the price on Nadaguides.com but I have a feeling it is overpriced. I think you ought to look for one with lower miles. Heck, I found mine on craigslist for 12000 with 25,000 miles on it.
