Default Front end woes

Hello,
I recently purchased a used 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab with the 5.7 Hemi. The truck seems very unstable while traveling over any type of even slightly bumpy or ir-regular roads. I have almost lost control of it twice now( once at 25 mph and once at 70 mph ). I did notice that sticker on the drivers door has the specs for 17" tires. This one has the Dodge 20" on it. The tires look very new and it doesn't seem to be a balance issue. I have also noticed when I do the "push down in the front end test" it does bounce more that I think it should and compared to other trucks. It has 55,000 miles on it. Any ides?
Thanks,

Welcome to the site. I would buy new shocks such as Bilstein and I will move this thread to the third generation Ram section

Very common problem for these trucks. New Better quality shocks will help this problem. My truck acts the same way and it only has 6kmi
