Default Power rear slider broken glass...

Last night some lowlife tried to pry open my rear power slider on my 06' Ram shattering it. According to my insurance company, the entire rear window must be replaced. All the glass as well as the black trim.

Are they correct about this? I cannot believe that you cant simply replace the center piece of glass. Insurance covers it anyhow, but i don't like the idea of having to worry about them properly sealing the ENTIRE REAR WINDOW. It also seems incredibly wasteful.

Anybody had this issue happen before?

You might be able to get a local glass company to make the broken piece. Not sure about mounting it into the current assembly, though.

I doubt the insurance company will be interested in that. I guess the whole window will be replaced. It just seems like such a waste both $$ wise for the insurance company and from an overall standpoint of waste. All that perfectly good glass and trim has to be trashed.
